Windows 7 is much better for gaming. It increased my frame rate over Windows 8. The only problem I had, was with the product key it comes with. The key is on a small sticker, and the letters were almost microscopic. Unless you have perfect vision, you better have a magnifying glass.a good one! I already had Windows 8 installed on my SSD.

This system builder will install and replace Windows 8. Once installed, you will be allowed to upgrade anything on your PC except the mother board. This disk is married to the mobo, so remember that if you plan on upgrading. I'd advise getting the new mobo first, then install the disk. I gave it 4 starz, only because of the micro product key.

It's ridiculously small to see! I'm sure this would be ideal use for those who may have purchased a newer PC with say windows 8 and prefer a simpler older version of windows that is still supported by Microsoft. I cannot say anything bad against this product other than i had to return it for refund as I have an older PC and will now be purchasing the version with 32 bit instead of this one which is 64. It was a friend who is a little more knowledgeable than myself of PC. My only regret is that I did not discuss this before making the purchase. The store from which I made the purchase was so kind to fix this problem with no hassle or criticism. After all, we are all human and make a mistake once in awhile.

Kudos to Microsoft for having a better alternate that will work for me and is still supported when my XP is no longer supported and I need this upgrade so I can continue to use the programs and hardware I still love and am used to. I bought Windows 7 Home Premium w/SP1 64-bit-System Builder License and Media from Walmart to replace the Windows 8.1 software I had bought on eBay. Win 8.1 would not install on my 2008 vintage Mac Pro 3.1 running Mountain Lion, and I'm probably lucky that it wouldn't, based on the scathing user reviews I read later.

Anyway, Windows 7 installed easily and works amazingly well with Parallels 9 in a virtual machine on my Mac. It allows me to use Quicken for Windows rather than the inferior Quicken for Mac, as well as other Microsoft programs.

I am also happy that it has not bothered me with the huge number of annoying 'security updates' I expected, based on my continuing experience with a couple of PCs with the regular Win 7 Home Premium operating system. Maybe there's something special about the '64-bit-System Builder' version that is worth considering for your PC. I definitely recommend the System Builder version of Windows 7 for installation on a Mac, along with Parallels 9, if you want to create a virtual PC on your Mac.

I bought a PC with Windows 8 in it and being an IT Tech I was well able to adapt to the new user interface, what I got tired of was the fact that my additional hard drives caused issues with pipeline updates failing, it failed to comprehend my installation of Adobe Creative Suite products, and about every 3 or 4 times I tried to play online games it rebooted, locked up, and in the restart decided it couldn't handle life in general and took itself back to factory settings. I couldn't get work done, I couldn't play, I had problems with it dying during my email usage for crying out loud.

There was one occasion it went to factory settings 3 times in a row without my getting anything going on in between! So, I hit the internet with my good computer that uses Window 7 and learned how to take this Win8 monstrosity back to Win7 and used this purchase of Windows 7 HP w/ SP1 as its replacement platform. Not one lick of trouble anymore. The Windows 8 monster is dead. I've used Windows products going all the way back to version 2 when it wasn't widely available and looked like DOS 6.

Windows 8 is the worst OS since Windows ME (Millennium)! Thanks goodness Wal-Mart and other retailers still sell Windows 7!

I bought Windows 7 system builder because Apple doesn't support Windows 8 yet (or at least not a specific Bootcamp & Mac drivers for WIndows 8). I followed the Bootcamp directions along with some other blogs about how much space to partition for installing PC games (went with 100Gbt). Everything installed easily on my MBP and now I'm running both OS smoothly. There's also some extra tips to read available on blogs, like how to remove Hybernate to free up a Gig or 2 and other items you'll never use on Windows if your primarily using the Mac OS for most of your operations.

The only disappointment so far is I haven't been able to fully re-install my Office 2010 because it's a different computer. Guess my old disks only had 1 licensing agreement. Whatever, there's Google Docs now. Who pays for MS Office anymore?

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium

I bought this item because it was much cheaper than other places. It is about 50% cheaper than other places now. I assume it is because Windows 7 support is being phased out by Microsoft.

I bought this for my mom who purchased a Laptop with 8.1 pre-installed. She is 70+ and cannot learn how to navigate at all in the new Windows format. Windows 10 is not any better for that.

You only get one shot though. That is, to say that once you install this copy of Windows 7 and use the license key, Microsoft will block the license from being used again. So, you better hope that you never have to install it again. Because otherwise you will have to buy Windows 7 again. And, Microsoft will not help you. The Microsoft support line will ask you to contact Walmart for support. So, I guess this is why Walmart is so much cheaper.

Will say that Walmart support has been very good. If I had my do-overs, I would've paid the extra money from somewhere else to get a full blown copy with support. Hope that this helps someone make a good decision.
