The Apple 45W MagSafe Power Adapter is made specifically for your MacBook Air. It's held in place magnetically, so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your notebook stays put safely. When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge.

These Apple genuine units have been OWC tested. If you can use a spare adapter, or need a replacement for one gone bad - these units save you money over the cost of a new adapter. Received as expected, works as expected. All part of what I have come to expect from over 10 years of ordering from OWC.

Quality products, quality company. Unsolicited review. I would recommend this item to a friend!

S Apple needs to rethink the design of the Magsafe power adaptors. I have bought replacement Magsafe Power adaptors in the past because they don't always last. Sometimes 1-2 years but this recent one only lasted 3 months. At $80 per adaptor this is ridiculous. Read online, many consumers have had the same issues.

I really, really do. You're making it difficult though. I couldn't blame you when my old, T-style power adapter broke after a couple years. I was even excited when I saw the sleek, new, redesigned L-style. However, that one broke too- but this time, it was after only about two months. I tried not to take it out on you, and figured that maybe I got the one bad one in the batch, or that maybe I had been too rough with it.

But here I am, typing away, pausing occasionally to wiggle the cord in order to get it to work again- for a few seconds at least. Yes, thats right, my SECOND L-style magsafe has broken, also after only a couple months. Finally, I'm realizing that it's not me, it's YOU. And you just don't seem to realize that. I called Apple support only to be told that there are 'no known issues' with the L-style magsafe adapter. Dearest apple, do you ever read the reviews your products receive? Obviously there is a known issue, and its that this product simply doesn't work if you use it for more than a month! I've enjoyed your sleek design and better usability, but honestly, I think I'm leaving you. More (Read full review). Written by Anna S from Sierra Vista. As for the MagSafe itself, it feels differently built (for the better), it doesn't nearly get as hot as the old MagSafe did (incredibly this one stays very cool, even on extended periods of time, although that could be because it's new.) Lastly, the actual connector is pretty innovative, feels much sturdier and less prone to fire/breaking/separation issues. It also wraps around a better/more effective contour. All in all, for $79 compared to $99, and the benefits i've named, it's a much better buy than the previous MagSafe (still overpriced, apple) More (Read full review). Written by Nico A from markham.

I've had 2 blow up on me and I'm now having to buy I think my 5th because the magnet keeps dislodging from the cord and sticking in the computer. I've glued them, wrapped them with heat shrink, crimped them back in, but all in all it is just a terrible design.

I usually have my MacBook sitting on the table at work and it doesn't get touched until I leave for the day and I always wrap the cord back on itself. The only time it gets any sort of rigorous use is if I'm sitting on the couch using it which is rare since my iMac is only 1 room away and way better to use for photo editing. If you are going to use these there should be an extra disconnect so instead of having to buy the entire power brick I could easily replace the cable that attaches into it much like the other side of the extender cord.

Then again, how would you get your $80 a year I suppose. More (Read full review).

I lived in the US ten years ago and plugged my UK purchased Toshiba laptop into the mains using an ordinary travel adaptor that you get in an airport etc and it worked fine. I bought a Macbook Pro when I was out there - which is what I am typing on now and it plugs into the mains in the UK without any problems.

You don't know need a 'convertor' - just an 'adaptor' If you look on the 'white box' in the middle of the power cable, it actually says 100-240V and 50/60Hz. The supplied power cable does the necessary work for you. So - I am using a US purchased MBP with the original US power adaptor and all I have is a £4.99 travel plug adaptor and it works just fine.
